STARTOWN

Welcome

“Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care”
At Startown First Baptist Church, the children's ministry strives to reach each child with the gospel of Christ through various opportunities and events, presenting to them the love of God through our actions and words by leading in an example of truth.  John 3:30 states, "He must increase, but I must decrease."  Therefore, we see that God calls us to give Him glory in all that we do in service to Him.  This service involves loving any child, regardless of background, with the
love that only Christ can impart through the teaching and discipleship of individuals with God's infallible Word, commonly known as the Holy Bible.  We see that SFBC's children's ministry is just a part of the bigger picture of our church's mission - a puzzle piece that enables us to touch lives with the power of God, loving each individual child and their families with His love.  We want kids to know and understand that God's love extended into the depths of the grave and beyond with Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, and that same love and power can dwell within us in the form of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16) as one trusts and puts his/her faith in knowing that only Jesus, God's only begotten son (John 3:16), was able to pay the price for our sins (John 14:6).  Through the teaching of the scriptures, we feel that students will begin to develop a personal relationship with Jesus as they study, meditate, and practice His commands.  A part of this involves reaching out to others - family, friends, and others in our community - and sharing Christ's redemption through His grace and mercy.  Ultimately, it is our desire to make the Bible real to each child - equipping, engaging, and encouraging them through the history of God and His people written throughout the scriptures.  In an ever- changing world, it is important for each child to understand that God does not change (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8), He never fails and always keeps His promises (Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalm 136; Lamentations 3:22), He is always with us (Deuteronomy 31:8; Joshua 1:9; Isaiah 41:10; Matthew 28:20; Romans 8:38-39), and He is always in control and reigns forevermore (I Chronicles 29:11; Job 12:10; Psalm 22:28; Isaiah 55:8-9; Jeremiah 10:10, 32:27; Matthew 19:26; Revelation 1:8, 4:11, 22:13).
